To Falmouth for Last Orders

Neil O'Connor

Falmouth from Pendennis Marina

Thursday 17th saw us heading to Falmouth in a Northerly Force 4/5, giving us a beam reach all the way. It was a lovely fast sail with the tide along the coast.

Passing Gribbin Head

Our friends David and Jen accompanies us in Magic Mood to Falmouth where we had arranged a berth for two nights in Pendennis Marina by the National Maritime Museum.

We rafted up to Magic Mood in Pendennis Marina. Soon afterwards the yacht Meraki berthed opposite us. A 50m superyacht built in 2020. We did feel a little outclassed.

The crew were then seen to spend the next two days that we were in the marina cleaning her.

We happily settled into two days of marina life. Hot showers, use of the lauderette and a walk into town. We also filled up on water and food, getting a taxi to and from the local Sainsbury's.

The marina is right next to the docks. We were overlooked by the impressive RFA Argus.

We had two days booked in the marina, and with Falmouth filling up and some rain forecast we decided to go up the Fal on the Saturday to find a mooring or anchorage.
