The Helford River

Neil O'Connor

We slipped mid afternoon on Wednesday 7th to sail to the Helford River. It took us a couple of hours to sail there along the coast from Falmouth. The river is a delight. When we arrived we were directed to a mooring by the friendly moorings officer.

We stayed for four nights in the end being joined by Falken and Tigermoon II. We walked the North Shore and headland in sunshine one day, Frenchman's Creek the next and then got soaked walking the South Shore the following day.

We had a good meal in the Yacht Club where there were showers. There is also a great little shop in Helford Village with a surprisingly wide range of food and drink.
