We left St Peter Port at 0715 for what proved to be a frustrating sail. The forecast weather of a NW F3-4 promised a fast sail using the cruising chute. We motored down the Little Russel Channel to St Martin's Point and picked up a fair breeze. The cruising chute was deployed and we were sailing at six knots. Ten minutes later the wind died and we had to motor.
We passed through some fog and although the wind did pick up from the North it wasn't sufficient to sail, so we ended up motoring all the way to St Malo.
At least it was sunny. We berthed in Les Sablons marina next to the ferry terminal at 1715.

Once we had sorted the boat out we walked round to the ferry terminal to find the Police Aux Frontières to get our passports stamped. They checked through our boat documents and stamped our passports after which it was a pleasant 30 minute walk back to the boat.
Te following day was our first touristy day where we weren't trying to get somewhere or sort the boat out with fuel or provisions. We walked round the quay in the inner harbour in St Malo where there was a boat being prepared for the Route du Rhum race that you could visit. It was very unusual. From the outside it was an out and out racing boat. But inside it was being fitted out like a three cabin cruising boat using lightweight materials including several types of carbon fibre.
We also had a pleasant walk around the headland and fort the other side of the marina with lovely views over towards Dinard and the Rance barrage.
