The second May Bank Holiday weekend brought fine weather and a rally to Island harbour on the River Medina co-ordinated by Elaine and myself. We had a lovely sail to Cowes and up the River Medina to arrive at Island Harbour about three in the afternoon. Just enough time to say “hello” to everyone and organise the pontoon party which was enjoyed by all in the sunshine. It was great to see both new and familiar faces.
Everyone did their own thing over the weekend: walking or kayaking up to Newport, taking a ride on the steam railway at Wooton Creek or just walking to the Folly for a pint. On the Sunday late afternoon we had a barbeque which went on until about 8 o’clock with everyone socialising.
Monday brought the return home with a considerable queue for the lock to leave the marina. There were some forty boats leaving that day. We didn’t manage to sail all the way home … both wind and tide were against us.
Thanks to everyone for coming, you helped to make it a great weekend.
