Shadow on the Ile aux Moines Visitor Pontoon
With the weather well into the thirties we left St Goustan late morning for Ile aux Moines. Planning was easier this time: just leave when there was enough water on a rising tide.
There was hardly a breath of wind as we motored down river past Le Bono. As the river widened around Pointe Espagnole we managed to slowly sail. In spite of the light winds we sailed pretty much to the little harbour on Ile aux Moines, again with six knots tide under us as some points.
We arrived early evening and called the harbour master and asked to pick up a buoy. He was OK with that but queried why we didn't want to use the pontoon. We had read that it was shallow, but there was plenty of room there. They provide a free taxi service from the pontoon to the quay, which was prompt and convenient.

The next day we took the water taxi and hired bikes from on of the several hire places on the island. There are a few restaurants at the quay, but the little town up the hill is very pretty with a collection of bars and restaurants. After a coffee in the square we cycled around the island visiting the dolmen in the South and the quay on the East side.

It was a very hot day, we were glad for a shower when we got back to the boat and that we were on water.
