Hot Vannes

Neil O'Connor

Vannes Cathedral

On Friday 17th we motored to Vannes. It was a hot still day. We slipped at 0900 and arrived in Vannes at 1030. It's a lovely stretch of water past islands and moorings and little harbours such as Port Anna. On the way up the river to Vannes you pass a pink house, which has to remain painted pink as it is a recognised navigation mark.

The Pink House

We were allocated a pontoon berth in Vannes. The marina is close to the centre of town and convenient for visiting Vannes. Vannes is well worth a visit with plenty of restaurants, museums, a cathedral and a old quarter full of timber framed houses.

The following day it was over forty degrees. We spent most of the day avoiding the sun on the boat, but did go to the Archaeological Museum - mainly because it was free and air conditioned. Later on Ian and Norma Hunter on Senior Moments invited us over for a drink on their Moody 47.
