Heading East to the Yealm

Neil O'Connor

Friday 16th July saw us deciding that we should be heading back East so we left Mevagissey for the Yealm. We had a pleasant sail past Polperro and Rame Head anchoring off Cawsand for lunch. Cawsand was a bit rolly but pleasant for a lunch stop.

We then sailed on to the Yealm arriving about 1730. We saw a vacant buoy and picked it up only to find a wooden sign attached to the pick up buoy saying that the owner was coming back. We had noticed our friends on Libra of Lorne on one of the mid-stream pontoons so went and rafted up to them. We had a very pleasant couple of days in the Yealm in warm sunshine with a lunch at the Ship Inn, a hot walk to Wembury and back (with a pub stop) and a BBQ on board in the evening.

The end of our Summer Cruise

We left Alderney on Wednesday 4th August to sail back home. Again it was light winds and we ended up motor sailing across the channel...
