We set off on our summer cruise to the West Country on Friday 4th June. It was dreary and rainy on the drive down to Gosport, but it brightened up by the time we had done the shopping and stocked the boat. We had a pleasant motor down to Newtown Creek where we anchored next to Anya, another Moody who had joined us on the Island Harbour Rally.

Anya at Newtown Creek

Saturday was an 0825 departure to catch the tide down the Needles Channel. The wind was on the nose so we motored to the end of the channel then had a lovely sail beating to windward to Portland Harbour. We anchored at 1730 and had a well-deserved beer, with an early night after dinner for a 0730 departure the next day.
