A Bonus Day

Neil O'Connor

Sunday was forecast to be wet ... but turned out to be dry and quite sunny. Dave and Jen suggested taking the dinghies up to Truro. We thought it would be a good chance to try out our repaired outboard.

On the Fal

It took about an hour to get up to Truro on the tide. Even an hour before high water there was plenty of mud around. On the approach to Truro you pass through a flood barrier ...

... before winding round behind Tesco's to tie up in the city centre next to the Harbour Office.

Approaching Truro City Centre

We had a good lunch and a pleasant couple of hours looking around the Cathedral (built in the C19) and the gardens before returning via the new pontoon and shower run by the Harbour Authority at Malpas.

During the day there had been several Whats App messages from friends coming to Falmouth asking where to berth. We got back to Shadow to find that Magic Mood had been joined by Jon and Lesley on Tigermoon II and Simon and Sarah on Lady J. There were also two other Moodys on the pontoon: Counterpoise and Sea Pigeon. It was a pleasant evening so not surprisingly we had impromptu drinks on the pontoon.
