About Us

Hi

We're Neil and Elaine O'Connor.

We are now both retired and enjoying life including sailing our Moody 336 Shadow.

Our first introduction to sailing was about fifteen years ago when we went for a corporate weekend sailing from Ocean Village to Cowes – and we were just about hooked from then on.  We tried an “Introduction to Sailing” weekend in pretty atrocious weather, and as that didn’t put us off we did the usual courses and chartered in the Solent and South Coast.

About seven years ago we took the plunge and bought M31 Sea’scape – our first boat.  It wasn’t long before the joys of maintaining a 1988 vintage yacht (and more frustratingly a 1988 vintage Volvo engine) led us to the Moody Owners Association (MOA) website and joining the MOA Solent Branch.  We are active members of the MOA and have have been on lots of MOA rallies and made a number of friends.

In September 2017 we parted with our beloved Sea’scape and bought Shadow a M336 II. We have been delighted with the extra space and turn of speed.

About Shadow

Shadow is a fin keeled Moody 336 Mk II with length of 10.2m and a draft of 1.7m. We bought Shadow in late 2017 in Chatham and sailed her back to Chichester Marina.  Until May 2022 she was based at Haslar Marina in Gosport. Over the last few years we have sailed her to the East Coast as far as the River Deben, West to the Isles of Scilly and South to the Channel Islands and the North Brittany Coast.

We are planning to sail Shadow to South Brittany in May and June 2022 to her new berth at La Roche Bernard on the River Vilaine.
